I choose to divide my workshop on two parts. At the first occasion the class saw a current exhibition together, that was selected in order to fit in on the theme formless. At the other occasion, we met in order to go through what wee had seen at the exhibition.

 I deside to work after this method in order to extend the perspective concept, concerning formless, on an easy to access way. On this way, you can get the opportunity to set a theme so as formless in relation to an amount of contemporary work,” live”, on-the-spot in a current exhibition. And exchange thoughts and reflections with each other, about how one can to see and to understand the idea with the theme, linked to those artists as personally been chosen out.

What we saw was the exhibition Thrice upon a time on Magasin 3, where everyone choose out an artist, that to be considered fits in on the concept. We discuss then together the different idea, tolled each other why we consider that they have worked with formless. And discussed different ways one can to say that the different categories within formless, base-materialism, entropi, pulse and horisontallity, relates to the artists and there work.

One person in the group brought up Gabriel Orozcos work, that showes photos of working class people's heads from the back. It was said furthermore that Orozcos work were exceptional and gave an interesting focus. That could in a way fit in on entropi, when the pictures are not what we are used to see. It could also be pulse when it reflects the relationship to the normal, ore  horisontallity when the portraits are taken on a way that goes towards the ideal way of taken portraits. But also base-materialism since it is not projected excellently enough to be named as art.

Another in the group spoke about Absalon and his videos when he screamed and hit around himself. Then it was applied that Absalons work were considered to be pulse, because of the artist, screaming and hitting, that seems to be a random behavior. The behavior can also be seen as childish, that in a way can be linked to base-materialism, because it disturbs the order. Therefore the shouting can be considered as disturbing. In another way it can be inspiring to behave on a way that one would not do otherwise. The work agreed also in on horizontality, since he does not behave as man should do, he shows low feelings.

Furthermore, it was spoken about Boo Ritsons work, who showed up portraits of two women and a man. The work is awkward and fits therefore in on base-materialism. It is neither a painting nor sculpture, it instead becomes something else. The work agrees also in on horizontality, as the pictures can be seen as kitsch. Colors and motive are recognized from both series and characters from the 50 and 60. Would possibly fit in on entropi, then the work questions how we see on portrait pictures. We become confused, then we can not decide ourselves what we see. But the pictures question also the relationship between what something is and is not, for how we structure values through the language, something that comes from pulse.

Also Kimsoojas work was discussed, which have one up and down turned horizon projected on the wall. The work agrees in on base-materialism, because that it only is what it is. Also pulse can be relate in on the work, if one sees on the relationship between then both fields that the horizon creates. Ore pulse when nothing direct happens in the work. When it comes to entropi, one could say that the work alienates through that we see, which creates a new picture. One can feel the gravitation in the picture. It exists but one can not to see it. One becomes disoriented, which feels in the body to. Worrying but at the same time sedative, as the feeling of vertigo.

It was spoken although of Tom Sandberg's work, which show up pictures of craniums that are painted with black-and-white squares. The work refers a lot to creating the pattern what is done, which the artist meanwhile had time to create a relationship to the work. Because of the material, the work fits in on the idea about base-materialism. The skull is related to death, which creates a scary feeling, although it is something that is under all of us.  One imagines who the person could have been. The breaking down in itself is related to entropi, but also about its storing and change.
